Since we are back in the US we will have better Internet connectivity, so I should be able to update the Blog a little more frequently.
We are in Mackinac Island, Michigan which is located right at the convergence of Lake Huron and Lake Michigan. The island is a throwback in time. No motorized vehicles are allowed. You make it around on foot, on a bike, or by horse.
The trip from Detour Village across the top of Lake Huron was very pleasant with just gentle rolling waves. The marina on the island is very populer, but we were able to get a slip for a couple of days. It gets a bit "bumpy" during the day with the ferry traffic bringing visitors to and from the island, but it is well worth the inconvenience.
The Island has many wonderful old houses with magnificant gardens. It looks a bit like Cape May, NJ. One of the main attractions on the island is The Grand Hotel, a wonderful, historic site located on a hill overlooking the Straits of Mackinac.
We plan to leave tomorrow and head into Lake Michigan. First stop will be Beaver Island
